What is wrong with the truck?

What we do on site
We adjust and bleed the clutch system, check the lines and the actuator and read the automated gearbox faults. We do small repairs and adjustments that don't need the gearbox removed.
Roadside repair limits
- Replacing the clutch disc and overhauling the gearbox mean taking the gearbox off. We don't do that at the roadside: it can be finished in our workshop in Jasień.

Fifth wheel: adjustment, repair and greasing
Symptoms
- The fifth wheel lock won't close or the trailer won't uncouple
- Knocks and jerks when moving off and braking
- Noticeable play between the fifth wheel and the trailer kingpin
- A dry, scored fifth wheel plate
The fifth wheel lock isn't closed, or you're not sure? Don't move off with the trailer.

What we do on site
We check the lock, the play and the fifth wheel mounting. We adjust the lock, replace worn lock parts and mounting parts, and clean and grease the fifth wheel plate.
Roadside repair limits
- Replacing the whole fifth wheel or its plate on site depends on parts being available for that model.
- A cracked plate or a cracked fifth wheel mounting on the frame needs a workshop repair. We don't do frame welding.

- The tractor unit leans to one side or has dropped at the rear
- Hissing at an axle or a burst air bag

What we do on site
We replace suspension air bags, shock absorbers and their mountings and check the levelling valves. We replace broken leaves and leaf springs.

- We don't weld the frame or mountings welded to it: chassis frame welding needs a workshop.

Propshafts, hubs and bearings
Symptoms
- Vibration when moving off or at a certain speed
- A knock when changing direction
- Humming or droning from a wheel that rises with speed

What we do on site
We check the play in the propshaft and its universal joints, the centre bearing and the wheel hubs. We replace universal joints, bearings and hub seals.

- We can't repair the drive axle or the differential at the roadside: that repair can be finished in our workshop in Jasień.

- After replacing a track rod or track rod end the wheel alignment has to be set on an alignment rig: we do that in our workshop in Jasień.
- We can't repair the steering box or the power steering pump at the roadside: that repair can be finished in our workshop in Jasień.

Retarder and intarder: diagnostics
Symptoms
- The retarder brakes less or doesn't work at all
- The retarder or gearbox warning light is on
- Oil leaking around the retarder or gearbox
- Overheating on a long descent with the retarder on
Without the retarder the brakes heat up faster on long descents: drive slower and in a lower gear.

What we do on site
We read the faults in the retarder and gearbox control units and check the oil level and condition, sensors, power supply and controls. After the diagnosis we replace on site the sensors, cables and seals that can be reached without removing anything.

- An internal retarder or intarder repair means removing it and a workshop repair.
- Replacing sensors on site depends on parts being available for that model.

Questions and answers
Do you repair gearboxes on site?
Only small repairs and adjustments that don't need the gearbox removed. Replacing the clutch disc or overhauling the gearbox means taking the gearbox off: that repair can be finished in our workshop in Jasień.
Do you replace suspension air bags on site?
Yes. We replace suspension air bags, shock absorbers and their mountings, and after the replacement we check the levelling valves.
The fifth wheel lock won't close. Can I drive?
No. Don't move off with the trailer until the lock is closed and secured. Call: we will check and adjust the fifth wheel on site.
